Content Types
Learn about the various content types in this section. We've broken down the list into recommended and non-recommended types. Many of the content types in the non-recommended list are ones which were used in older versions of the software. The content types in the recommended list are ones we have determined to be advantageous for the best practices established for IU digital signage.
Recommended content types
These are the content types we recommend for the easiest management and most effective engagement with audiences viewing your digital signage.
List of recommended content types:
1. Image [JPEG,PNG] {Basic}
2. Content Feed [i.e. cloud playlists] {Basic}
3. Live Data [Data feeds: JSON, XML, RSS] {Advanced}
Non-recommended content types
The following content types can be used but we do not recommend them for our current set of best practices. These content types were used in previous versions of the software and do not take full advantage of the improvements made in newer versions. Veteran sign managers may continue to use these assets but they will likely require more work, so we encourage becoming more familiar with the newest ways to work.
List of non-recommended content types:
1. Microsoft Power Point (Individual slides cannot be pre-scheduled.)
2. Adobe PDF (Individual pages cannot be pre-scheduled.)
3. Text (Non-friendly styling options.)
4. Date/Time* (Decreases focus on internal marketing efforts.)

6. Video (Should only be used in special cases, 15-30 seconds.)
7. Live TV (Should only be used in special cases, decreases focus on internal marketing efforts.)
