UPDATE [10/9/2019] - Migration of IU digital signage to FWI Cloud is now underway. The Content Manager Desktop application is being fully replaced with the browser based Content Manager Web application. Each digital sign must have a signed eMOU agreement. If you have not signed an eMOU agreement, complete the software request form.
Installing Content Player
Content Player continues to be a windows based desktop application. Windows version 10 is required.
IMPORTANT - If you are installing updated software to an existing 5.1 Content Player machine, it is advised that you purge some files/folder prior to installation. In the windows search, type
%fwi% - this opens the Fourwinds folder in the
documents > public folder. Delete the
four winds interactive folder. Do the same for
%programdata%, but you won’t need to navigate up one folder in this instance.
Ensure that you have the invite code. The invite code will be emailed to you from digital signage admins after you complete the software request form. The email will also include connection properties strings (credentials) with a more secure method.
Double-click on the installer. The default value for Install Content Player for yourself, or for anyone who uses this computer should be Everyone.
In the screen for Confirm Installation dialogue, click Next to start the installation.
Note: If administrator authentication is required on your machine, contact your IT support person to enter in their credentials to authenticate the installation beyond this point.
When you see the Installation Complete dialogue, click Close.
Two applications are installed. The Content Player is the normal application for displaying content on your digital sign. Content Player Configuration is for player-specific settings such as "ticker speed" and power options.
Launch the ‘Content Player Configuration’ app. As soon as the app is launched, you will be asked for the invite code. (Alternatively, you can also enter the invite code in the ‘About’ tab.)
After entering the invite code, the Content Player Configuration dialogue opens.
- Click the Channels tab.
- Enter the Deployment ID received from the digital signage admins.
- Check the box for Retrieve deployment from a server.
- Click the down arrow to the left of Connection Properties. Make sure Protocol is set to FWI Services.
- Enter the hostname, username, and password received from the digital signage admins.
The following options are now available only to digital signage administrators:
- Upload Logs
- Upload Status
- Upload Screenshots
In the About tab, confirm that the player is licensed. Your player is ready.
